GIGANTES EN AMERICA PRECOLOMBINA. (Español). Con gran interés he leído el correo electrónico que me ha sido enviado por mi amigo José Peña en Washington, acerca de hallazgos arqueológicos de seres humanos gigantes en Grecia y de las referencias a ellos en la Biblia. Pareciera ser solamente un hecho mítológico, nada real. Pero no solamente en la civilización occidental se menciona esto. En el México Precolombino, existió evidencia física de la existencia de ellos. Cuando Hernán Cortés y sus soldados conquistaron Tlaxcala, el 23 de septiembre de 1519, el rey tlaxcalteca Xicoténcatl (suegro de Pedro de Alvarado y padre de Doña Luisa, con quien Alvarado procreó a su hijo Pedro), mencionó "gigantes" como habitantes del territorio, antes que los tlaxcaltecas poblaran la región. Para ello, me permito transcribir un texto del capítulo LXVIII de "La verdadera y notable relación del descubrimiento y conquista de la Nueva España y Gohatemala" escrita por Bernal Díaz del Castillo, un soldado español del ejército de Hernán Cortés, cuyo libro constituye la más vívida, vibrante, sorprendente y apasionante crónica de la conquista de México y Guatemala. "... y qué fue que cómo ellos habían venido a poblar aquella tierra, e de qué partes vinieron...; y dijeron que les habían dicho sus antecesores que en los tiempos pasados que había allí entre ellos poblados hombres y mujeres muy altos de cuerpo y de grandes huesos, que porque eran muy malos y de muy malas maneras, que los mataron peleando con ellos y otros que quedaban se murieron; e para que viésemos qué tamaños e altos cuerpos tenían, trajeron un hueso o zancarrón de uno dellos, y era muy grueso, al altor del tamaño como un hombre de razonable estatura; y aquel zancarrón era desde la rodilla hasta la cadera: yo me medí con él, y tenía tan gran altor como yo, puesto que soy de razonable cuerpo; y trajeron otros pedazos de huesos como el primero, mas estaban ya comidos y deshechos de la tierra; y todos nos espantamos de ver aquellos zancarrones, y tuvimos por cierto haber habido gigantes en esta tierra; y nuestro capitán Cortés nos dijo que sería bien enviar aquel gran hueso a Castilla para que lo viese su majestad, y así lo enviamos con los primeros procuradores que fueron;..." El texto está escrito en el español de hace cinco siglos. La Ciencia está descubriendo un montón de enigmas y secretos que aún están escondidos en la tierra, lo cual revela que no todos los acontecimientos poblacionales de la tierra están completamente explicados y también, nos permite admirar la grandeza de los seres humanos de hoy día. It seems a mythical fact. But not only in the western civilization is mentioned. In Precolumbian México, existed physical evidence of the existence of them. The text is written in the Spanish of five centuries ago. The Science is discovering a lot of enigmas and secrets hidden in the earth, that reveals that not all of the facts of population of earth is completely explained, and also, to admire the greatness of the human beings of today.
